The number of registered users of online gambling in Spain has increased from 2.2 million to 3.9 million at the end of 2014, says the Spanish online gaming regulator.

It reported that 51.7 per cent of active players at the end of the year were new players and that 87 per cent of active players are men and a slightly higher percentage of them are between 18 and 45 years.
The report showed that the average ‘player lifetime’ was 3.27 months and that 41.7 per cent of players took part in gambling for just one month.
Operators did well in terms of keeping their players to themselves. Over 70 per cent of players were registered with just one operator and only 1.6 per cent were registered with six or more operators.
The most popular games are sports betting and poker tournament play. It showed that 60.4 per cent took part in sports betting, 44.8 pr cent in poker; 20.6 per cent in non-slots casino play and 7.9 per cent in bingo.
Spend per year was calculated on average at €7,769 with men spending twice as much as women. The average return payout from all games was 95.7 per cent.
