Sweden’s Spelinspektionen has stated that several gaming companies violated rules to provide markets surrounding a football match featuring players aged under 18.
An Allsvenska fixture between AIK and IFK Gothenburg on April 29, 2019, is the game in question, which has prompted the regulator to impose “special supervision” of betting on players who are under 18 years of age.
Spelinspektionen said in a statement: “Betting on players under the age of 18 is prohibited and is considered to be a serious violation of the game law. The provision aims to protect the integrity of youth sports and is of importance in preventing young people under the age of 18 being exposed to the influence of manipulating the game, so-called match fixation.
“The gaming inspectorate is very serious about such betting and has therefore initiated supervision of several companies regarding betting on players under the age of 18.”
