Doyle joins Skrill after around a decade in a range of roles at payment services provider Ingenico. Most recently, he was managing director of the Northern European region, vice president of marketing and solutions for Europe and an executive committee member.

Doyle said: “I believe by putting in place clear direction and a solid sales and marketing strategy, Skrill has the opportunity to build on its current solutions and existing position, to realise its long-term ambitions to become the first choice for online payments.”

Siegfried Heimgaertner, CEO of Skrill, said: “Craig Doyle’s wealth of knowledge and understanding of the payments sector will help shape this next exciting stage of our journey. His understanding of offline payment technology strengthens our breadth of experience.

“As we continue to grow and expand internationally, Craig will play a pivotal role in driving Skrill forward and uncovering new opportunities to help people pay and get paid globally.”

Doyle’s appointment is the first of a number of key appointments Skrill plans to make in 2013 as part of its strategy for global growth.
