SafeCharge International, a leading international payment service provider and risk management solution, has joined the PCI Security Standards Council as a new participating organisation.

SafeCharge will work with the council to evolve the PCI Data Security Standard and other payment card data protection standards. The PCI DSS, endorsed by American Express, Discover Financial Services, JCB International, MasterCard Worldwide and Visa, requires merchants and service providers that store, process or transmit customer payment card data to adhere to information security controls and processes that ensure data integrity.

SafeCharge will now have access to the latest payment card security standards from the council, be able to provide feedback on the standards and become part of a growing community that now includes more than 500 organisations. In an era of increasingly sophisticated attacks on systems, adhering to the PCI DSS represents an entity’s best protection against data criminals. By joining as a participating organisation, SafeCharge is adding its voice to the process.

“SafeCharge is proud to become a part of the most stringent set of security standards in the world,” said SafeCharge CEO David Avgi. “Our proven solution enables our merchants to process electronic payments without the risk of storing or even handling sensitive account information.

“Being level one PCI compliant, SafeCharge handles and stores all payment data on behalf of the merchant in a secure card storage that is directly connected with the banking network. As a result, consumer payment information is safer, the amount of risk decreases and merchants can achieve compliance with card association security rules more easily. We look forward to sharing our expertise and knowledge with the council members.”
