A new bill has been put forward to legalise sports betting in Washington’s tribal gaming facilities in the state, including online betting.
House Bill 1975, sponsored by eight representatives, would allow sports bets to be placed at tribal casinos both in person and through the internet while on the premises.
As it stands, online gambling in Washington is a Class C felony carrying up to five years in prison and a maximum fine of US$20,000.
Following the repeal of PASPA last year, there are only 11 states remaining that have yet to introduce new sports betting legislation.
