An order banning all offshore gambling operations in the Philippines has been signed by President Ferdinand R Marcos Jnr.

The order, signed on November 5 but announced several months ago, enforces an immediate cessation of these activities, which have long drawn public scrutiny over their links to crime, social issues and alleged exploitation.
The order directly targets not only licensed operators but also illegal offshore gaming outfits. Marcos’ administration cited concerns for national security, public order and the well-being of vulnerable populations as the primary drivers of the action.
