The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board says that a 13 per cent year-on-year rise in June’s gaming revenue has contributed to the state collecting a record level of gaming tax revenue for a fiscal year.

Igaming in the Keystone State brought in revenue of US$135.4m in June, up 31.6 per cent year-on-year from $102.9m.

Furthermore, while sports betting handle in Pennsylvania was down 5.16 per cent year-on-year to $373.2m, the taxable revenue figure was 80.6 per cent higher than a year ago at $23m, compared with $12.8m.

The PGCB therefore reported that those figures combined for total gaming revenue during the 2022-23 fiscal year of $5.5bn, a record for the state.

The previous high in that regard was the $5.04bn posted in the 2021-22 fiscal year.

Igaming generated a 24.38 per cent increase in revenue across the 2022-23 fiscal year compared with 2021-22, with sports betting following suit with a 55.83 per cent jump.

But while retail slots revenue in the 2022-23 fiscal year was 1.74 per cent higher than the 2021-22 fiscal year, retail table games revenue declined by 4.11 per cent.
