To the uninitiated, the affiliates sector is something of a mystery. As iNTERGAMINGi launches a regular dedicated affiliates section, we take a wider look at this critically important sector.
IT is not a crystal clear picture but, using best estimates and applying a degree of mathematical deduction, it may be concluded that the overall value of the online gaming affiliate sector in regulated markets is not less than €14bn per year globally.
The problem with taking that as a given is that it may of course be as much as double that. The absence of official statistics is inevitable, in an industry sector that is unquantifiable by officialdom. But Income Access, one of the largest affiliate programmes in the industry, estimates that somewhere between 25 to 40 per cent of online wagering can be attributed to the affiliate channel and that gross gaming revenue is similarly within this range.
