Gross gaming revenue in Ontario, Canada’s igaming sector rose six per cent month-on-month in April.

The latest figures from iGaming Ontario show that as well as GGR climbing from CA$296m to $313m in March, there was a three per cent jump in active player accounts from 1,016 to 1,091.

However, total bets and stakes fell two per cent from $7.96bn to $7.78bn.

Online casino revenue accounted for 78 per cent of Ontario’s total igaming revenue in April at $242.8m. This figure was a rise of one per cent.

Sports betting GGR, which rose 34 per cent, amounted to $64.5m, or 21 per cent of the month’s revenue.

Peer-to-peer poker generated $5.9m in GGR, down 11 per cent and representing a market share of two per cent.
