The Norwegian Government is understood to be planning a US-style ban on internet gambling.

Speaking at the EiG show in Barcelona, Rolf Sims, a legal adviser to Norway’s Ministry of Culture, warned operators that the country was in the process of drafting laws that mirror the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, which came into effect last year in the US.

The move is thought to be in response to public pressure against gambling in the country.

According to Norwegian media reports the government is expected to make a decision on the legislation by spring next year.
