Sports betting revenue in North Carolina in May dropped by 40 per cent to US$63.1m.

In the second full month of wagering activity in the Tar Heel State after launch in mid-March, revenue declined from April’s high of $105.3m.
Sports betting handle also fell in the state, from $569.3m in April to $494.6m in May.
Notably, the $30.9m in promotional wagers in May was the lowest since North Carolina’s regulated market launched, down from $79.7m in April and from $202.6m in March.
The amount paid as winnings in North Carolina was also the lowest to date in May at $458.7m, down from $538.4m in April and $590.8m in March.
