Mobile sports betting revenue in North Carolina, US, fell 20.1 per cent from July to August this year, to US$33.8m.

The revenue came from total handle, including promotions, of $357.3m, which rose 8.9 per cent month-on-month from July’s $328m, according to figures from the North Carolina State Lottery Commission.

Subsequent tax proceeds in North Carolina amounted to $6.1m in August, down 20.1 per cent from July’s $7.6m.

Compared with March, when the state opened its doors to mobile sports betting – albeit not for a full month amid the March 11 launch – handle dropped 43.8 per cent from $659.3m.

Revenue compared with March and August this year in North Carolina fell 49.2 per cent from $66.5m.
