The UK Gambling Commission has concluded its licence review into 888 without any licence conditions, financial penalties or other remedies being imposed.

The operator said the regulator was “satisfied that the risk to the licensing objectives under the Gambling Act that led to the review have been appropriately managed and adequately mitigated.”

The UKGC had initiated the review into 888 after developments over its previous ties with FS Gaming.

FS Gaming, led by Kenny Alexander and other former Entain chiefs, took a 6.6 per cent stake in 888 in June, with a plan to appoint Alexander as the CEO of 888 following Itai Pazner’s departure in January 2023.

The former Entain chiefs were involved in the legacy Turish business operated by the ex-Entain staff at the company’s predecessor, GVC. The legacy Turkish business was the subject of a multi-million-pound settlement for Entain over bribery claims, which fuelled Entain’s substantial 2023 losses.

However, 888 cut ties with FS Gaming in July and has since been awaiting the outcome of the subsequent licence review by the Gambling Commission, from which it says no further action will be taken.
