New Jersey sportsbooks took US$16.4m in bets placed across the first two weeks of legalised gambling.

The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement has reported that since the first legal sports bets were accepted on June 14 until the end of the same month, sportsbooks at Monmouth Park, Borgata and Ocean Resort produced $3.4m in gross revenue.
For events that had completed before the end of June, the sportsbooks took $1.2m of the $15.36m placed.
The state’s tax take from sports betting across the two weeks was $300,000.
The total land-based casino win was up just over five per cent to $207.5m for June compared to the same month in 2017, with internet gaming win at $22.7m in June, increasing 12.7 per cent compared to the same period a year earlier.
Two new casinos – Hard Rock and Ocean Resort – opened for business on June 27.
