New Jersey technology suppliers, including data centres and bandwidth providers, could be about to hit the jackpot if a new Intra-State igaming bill is signed into law in the coming week.
Experts estimate that Bill S490, which seeks to modernise and regulate internet gaming within the state of New Jersey, could create 57,000 jobs within the state, as well as generating significant fiscal revenue that could help to close the state’s ailing budget deficit.
According to an economic development study released by the iMEGA, a modernisation of New Jersey’s gaming legislation would not only better protect the citizens of
New Jersey by regulating internet gambling, but could provide up to 57,085 direct and indirect jobs within the state.
The legislation is now waiting to be signed into law by Governor Chris Christie who has four options before the March 3 deadline. He could veto the bill; opt for a conditional veto, which sends the bill back to Assembly and Senate for changes; sign the bill into law; or he could choose to do nothing, in which case the bill would automatically become law on March 4.
