The Australian Communications and Media Authority has formed a new agreement to strengthen gambling regulation efforts in the country.

ACMA

The ACMA and the Northern Territory Department of Industry, Tourism and Trade have signed up to a Memorandum of Understanding, which will solidify ties between the two agencies.

The MoU will also facilitate collaboration in compliance monitoring, enforcement and education for online gambling.

The ACMA and DITT will furthermore look to approve information and intelligence-sharing processes to support effective regulation of the online gambling industry.

The DITT licences a number of online bookmakers in Australia, with the ACMA therefore noting that “there are a growing number of gambling matters of common interest” between the two parties.
