Malta-based affiliate marketing software provider NetRefer has launched an initiative to introduce school children on the Mediterranean island to programming tools.
The company ran its first Code Club during the summer holidays to share basic programming knowhow with children across the country.
Evarist Bartolo, minister for education and employment, backed the initiative and presented each child with a certificate and a Raspberry Pi device on graduation day.
NetRefer team members Kelby Garside and Adrian Abela were responsible for initiating and managing the Code Club, which was hosted at company’s training academy in Msida. This involved teaching children between the age of six and 11 how to formulate ideas and translate them into a programme.
