Michigan’s gaming regulator brought together a range of key stakeholders earlier this week for a discussion on the regulation of college sports betting.

Several recent incidents relating to gambling breaches have hit the headlines regarding the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA).
They include former Alabama baseball coach Brad Bohannon’s penalties from the NCAA for violating wagering and ethical conduct rules. In Iowa, meanwhile, charges brought against Jirehl Brock over betting were eventually dropped.
On Monday, the Michigan Gaming Control Board hosted Mark Hicks, the NCAA’s managing director of enforcement, and BetMGM’s director of responsible gambling, Richard Taylor.
Patrick Walter, an FBI supervisory special agent for the Detroit Office, also attended alongside IC360’s Dan Trolaro, co-managing director of Education and Training Services.
The panel talked through the rules, regulations and compliance measures of college sports betting.
MCGB executive director Henry Williams said: “By hosting this panel discussion and engaging with NCAA Division I collegiate officials involved with overseeing compliance, talking about ways in which we might be able to work together to prevent student-athletes from illegally gambling, we aim to uphold the highest standards of integrity and responsibility.”
