MGM Resorts International has become the latest operator to be awarded a Nevada real-money online poker licence and plans to use bwin.party’s poker platform to launch in 2013.
Regulated online real-money gaming in the US moved a step nearer this week with the news that MGM had gained approval to become the 12th licensee for online poker in the Silver State.
At a hearing with the Nevada Gaming Commission, MGM was approved as a licensee for the operation of interactive gaming systems in the state. The licence will allow MGM to offer bwin.party’s poker platform to Nevada residents although bwin.party itself is yet to receive approval.
Bwin.party is expected to meet with gaming regulators early in 2013 although the NGC has cautioned that the online giant is not guaranteed for approval. However, MGM plans to launch real-money online poker to Nevada residents in the spring of 2013 following bwin.party’s widely anticipated approval.
