New York posted its highest sports betting handle of 2024 in May, with bets of US$1.97bn up 45.2 per cent year-on-year.

The handle was up 0.5 per cent from April’s $1.96bn and also beat January’s $1.96bn.

Gross gaming revenue in May was the Empire State’s second highest of 2024 at $203.35m, up 33.8 per cent year-on-year and up 10.6 per cent month-on-month.

However, the GGR did not top January’s $211.5m.

Of the sports betting operators live in New York, DraftKings posted the highest handle in May of $812.3m, with corresponding revenue of $84.2m.

Flutter Entertainment’s FanDuel’s handle was lower at $747.5m but revenue was higher than DraftKings’ at $88m.
