Retail sports wagering in the Bay State launched at the end of January, but six online operators had to wait until Friday to begin offering odds to customers.

And DraftKings, FanDuel, Barstool Sportsbook, Caesars Sportsbook, BetMGM and WynnBET overall helped to record 8.1m geolocation transactions, according to GeoComply.

That made Massachusetts the fifth-busiest state in the US last weekend, with only New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York recording more geolocation transactions.

Compared with similar-sized states, though, Massachusetts beat Virginia, Arizona, Indiana and Maryland for geolocation transactions and active player accounts over the weekend, during which 406,400 were recorded in the Bay State.
