Following the shedding of its lottery business and the pending sale of its sports betting interests, Light & Wonder has invested in the igaming content sector with the purchase of Playzido.
Light & Wonder - the rebranded Scientific Games - has acquired a leading open game development platform and content provider in Playzido. Its remote gaming server platform is regarded as one of the best in the igaming business for speedy custom game development.
For Light & Wonder, the platform will speed up the group’s partnerships with game studios and operators. Coming on top of the recently-acquired Lightning Box, a leading creative studio, Playzido’s platform will offer to L&W an accelerated strategy and faster route to market, notably for those studios that do not have their own development platform.
Launched in 2018 by Stuart Banks (Paddy Power, Betfair), Playzido has developed a strong footing in European markets and now with L&W is ready to scale further in that sector and break into North America.
The Playzido flexible technology is purpose-built for creative independent studios by supporting every game type and incorporating elements including multiplayer games and jackpots. The financial aspects of the deal have not been released at this stage.
