The Jamaican Betting Gaming and Lotteries Commission has published plans to permit regulated online gaming as part of the restructuring of current betting and lottery laws in the country.

Commission representative Andral “Jack” Shirley said the Caribbean nation would miss out on tax-generating revenues if it did not review all current gambling and sports betting laws.
He said: “Jamaica has to act now or lose traction on the matter; i-gaming is a rapidly expanding sector of the industry in which we are not legally participating,” adding that Jamaica “is not benefitting from the taxes that this activity attracts.”
