On the final day of ICE Totally Gaming at London’s ExCeL last week, sports betting specialist, bookmaker and broker Samvo was full of praise for the event and for the new location.

Ahead of another important year for Samvo, retail development manager Dave Webb said: “We have been attending trade events like this since October - we were at Wolverhampton for the bookies trade fair and then we went to EiG. “

“They were good but we always thought ICE would be the one where we got most interest and that is how it’s turned out. There’s been a lot of interest in our price feeds as well as our hedging and brokerage services. It’s been really good and the interest has been global.“

Much of the talk at ICE was about the move to ExCeL and Webb was impressed with the new home: “I think it’s a great venue as well. I’ve been coming as a customer for a few years but the size of this is just phenomenal.

“I thought that, coming from the betting industry, we were lost a little in Earls Court and I think this is a better venue for us. Obviously it’s a long walk to find us [in the betting village] but once you come down the stairs we’ve got a great poistion and the betting village idea has been successful. Its our own little community down here – I’ve seen people I know from years ago.”

“I’ve also had lots of good meetings and very little wasted time – our hope is to kick on from here and get some decent business from the show,” said Webb, “and hopefully be back next year.”
