Sports betting and gaming group GVC Holdings has appointed Virgina McDowell to the board as a non-executive director, in the process adding 35 years of experience in the US gaming industry – including a two-year spell as chief information officer at Trump Entertainment Resorts.

The current vice chairperson of Global Gaming Women, a non-profit organisation with a mission to support, inspire and influence the development of women in the gaming industry through education and mentoring, McDowell was the president and CEO of Isle of Capri Casinos, Inc. in the US from 2011 until her retirement in 2016.

She also has experience as senior vice president of operations, sales and marketing at Argosy Gaming Company earlier in her career was promoted through the ranks at Tropicana Casino and Resort before departing as vice president of business development in 1996.

Will Whitehorn has stepped down as a non-executive director at GVC and Stephen Morana, an existing non-executive director and chairman of the audit committee, succeeds him as the new senior independent director.
