The University of Bremen’s Dr. Tobias Hayer, at its Institute for Public Health and Nursing Research, will be the lead on the study, titled Player Protection on the Internet: Evaluation of the Measures of the State Treaty on Gaming 2021.

The research will focus on the overhaul of the German gambling industry in 2021, putting responsible gaming in the spotlight following the introduction of the State Treaty on Gambling.

The GGL added: “Permissions and the implementation of specific player protection regulations are checked with regard to their positive and negative effects.

“Insights into practicability, adjustments to the requirements regarding player protection, changes in gaming behaviour, etc. are also important. A comprehensive evaluation of the measures of the State Treaty on Gaming 2021 will take place in 2026.”
