English Premier League football clubs face pressure to impose a voluntary ban on gambling advertising on shirts.

With the UK government about to release a consultative white paper on gambling reform, the Times newspaper says that the 20 clubs in the league were about to agree on such a move a few months ago, believing that the then Prime Minister Liz Truss would abandon toughening up the gambling regulations.

Now the new government has indicated that it is seeking a degree of self-regulation by the clubs.
