An English football club has decided to cut all of its ties with any gambling company, ahead of a potential UK government clampdown on gambling sponsorship of football.

Bolton Wanderers’ chairman, Sharon Brittan, has announced that the club will not have any gambling company sponsorship of any of its activities.

The government is said to be planning to ban the sponsorship of football jerseys by gambling clubs in a white paper due to be published later this year.
