Flutter Entertainment has committed to spending more than €100m annually on safer gambling in the UK and Ireland, as regulations in the two markets become more demanding.

A report in The Irish Times this week said that Flutter’s CEO for those markets, Conor Grant, said it had spent €54.6m in the two countries in the first half of this year. The group contains Paddy Power, Betfair, Sky Bet and Tombola and in the US FanDuel.
Said Grant: “Yes, we have taken some pain, but we think that this is absolutely the right thing to do and we think everyone else is going to have to do the same thing eventually.”
He added: “It is very simple for me; it is about building a sustainable business. We don’t want customers for 10 minutes, we want them for 10 years.”
