In an effort to boost finances through taxation, Estonia has legalised online gambling.
As reported in the Estonian Free Press recently, players will be allowed to use Estonia-based online gaming platforms like the
Olympic Casino group’s through 2010, with full international access becoming available in 2011.
The decision comes after the country has just hosted the Baltic Poker Festival, which was sponsored by PokerStars.
The opening up of the online gambling market will mean huge investment potetial for the Estonian market, which suffered badly in the recession. The country’s stock exchange recently saw the second highest number of transactions in the last decade.
