Esports Entertainment Group is acquiring Esports Gaming League, it was announced by the Malta-based company this week.

The online gambling company has signed a letter of intent to take over the 10-year-old esports operator that offers sports betting to players in Europe, the Middle East and the Americas.

EGL is a B2B-centric provider of live and online events and tournaments where players can compete in a wide range of sports-related content and video games. It has 350,000 registered players.

Grant Johnson, CEO of Esports Entertainment, said that the company had now delivered on its commitment to have a tournament platform operational by the end of 2020. 

“EGL generated US$1.3m in revenue in 2019 and is positioned to show three-digit growth. Its complementary platform, large user base, excellent team and advertising partner relationships are key drivers behind this transaction.”

EGL partners with brands, publishers and sports teams to target a digitally-enabled 18-35 core demographic and has worked with Microsoft, Red Bull, Activision and more.
