Following the awarding of 10 licences to operate in the newly-legalised Netherlands online gaming market, sports betting brand Entain has announced that it will apply for a licence later this year.

Entain is one of the companies that have been offering online gambling to the Dutch market without an official licence for some time but in accordance with the country’s gambling authority’s "cooling-off period" criteria.

Those operators can apply for licences to become operative a year from now, according to the Dutch gambling authorities.

Entain has now gone on record as indicating that it will cease offering gambling facilities to Dutch players from October 1. It will impact its EBITDA to the tune of £5m per month. The company will then submit its Dutch licence application later this year with a desire to be granted a licence during the first half of 2022
