An investigation by the Dutch regulator into responsible gambling is being extended due to the inconclusive nature of the initial findings.

Kansspelautoriteit, Netherlands

Beginning in 2022, Kansspelautoriteit requested information from a number of online gaming providers about their duty of care to players.

However, the regulator said the “very different ways” in which providers are handling duty of care makes the current information insufficient to offer best practice recommendations.

The KSA says there are “major differences” in the way in which lost amounts are handled, as well as variations in average loss, playing time and number of bets.

The regulator has also failed to come to an appropriate conclusion so far on how and why interventions are made.

“Young adults are specifically monitored in the duty of care, but there is no clear approach,” a KSA statement added.

The investigation will continue until the second quarter of 2023.
