The US Department of Justice has filed a motion to dismiss New Hampshire’s lawsuit against its opinion that the 1961 Wire Act bans all forms of interstate online gaming.

The department’s 47-page document says the case fails to make any claim that could be granted any type of relief. It also challenges whether the US District Court for the District of New Hampshire has jurisdiction in the case.

A representative from the Coalition to Stop Internet Gambling, the anti-online gaming lobby group formed by Las Vegas Sands CEO Sheldon Adelson, filed a motion to appear in the case.
