Technology solutions provider for the igaming industry Cubeia, has announced the release of Firebase Community Edition, a scalable, enterprise server for multiplayer games.
Firebase Community Edition is the first ever open-source game server in the online gambling industry. "Releasing a community edition of Firebase was the logical step for us to take. It adds unprecedented value for our customers in community support, model transparency, market penetration and development velocity," said Lars J Nilsson, EVP of Cubeia.
Firebase is a game server designed to run on anything from a single laptop to large enterprise clusters. A single instance can manage several thousand players and even a small cluster installation can handle massive amounts of traffic. It will be dual-licensed, one version for the development community under an open source licence, and one version with enterprise features under a proprietary licence.
The Firebase platform already powers skill gaming networks Jadestone DiceArena network and the MahjongLogic network. In the near future, Cubeia will look to provide Firebase to entrepreneurs and start-ups, as well as established online game studios.
