The ban on advertising for online gaming in Italy will apply to companies operating in the country with a registered office, including secondary offices, recommends Agcom, the Italian authority.

It will also apply to persons with a registered office in other countries if they have received the concession to offer paid gaming in Italy by the Agenzia dele dogane e dei monopoli or they have been authorised to provide audio-visual media services in Italy.

However, trade publications such as Gioco News, that are "mere communications maintaining an exclusive, descriptive, informative purpose identifying the legal gaming offer" are not affected.

Said Alessio Crisantemi of Gioco News: “Our magazine is now out of the ban of the grounds that it is specialised media.”
