Catena Media says it remains committed to the Italian market despite the blanket ban on gambling ads in the country.

Last month, the affiliate giant announced it had acquired Italian sports news and lead generator Asap Italia for €16m.

Despite the Italian Council of Ministers approving a ban on gambling advertising starting on January 1, 2019, Catena said it intends to stick around in the country for the long-term.

“Catena Media’s management has monitored the development in Italy very closely for over a year,” a Catena statement read. “Italy is a 100 per cent regulated market with clear compliance. Current events will benefit Catena Media and those who concentrate on compliance and have a distinct long-term focus.”

Founded in 2010, almost 100 per cent of Asap Italia’s customers derive from the regulated Italian market.
