Canada sports betting bill introduced

Canada could soon have single-game sports betting after the government introduced legislation to be acted upon next year.

The bill will be a part of next year’s legislature. Provincial lotteries currently offer parlay betting, which generated US$385m in revenue last year.

An estimated $3bn in handle is lost annually to illegal online sports betting operators. The bill has gained the backing of Canadian casinos and North American sports leagues the NBA, NHL, MLB, MLS and Canadian Football League.
