A lottery bill that includes legalised sports betting received approval in Brazil’s House of Representatives.
It now moves to the Senate for approval by next Wednesday, Games Magazine Brazil reported.
The bill would legalise both land-based and online fixed-odds sports betting. Sports betting was previously legalised in a lottery measure, but those amendments were vetoed by then-President Dilma Rousseff.
It isn’t expected that President Elect Jair Bolsonaro will veto the amendments, BetConsult President Edgar Lenzi said. He also expects the Senate’s approval.
