Online betting and gaming operator Betway has been granted a new licence to launch in Portugal’s regulated igaming market.

Betway enters Portugal

Lisbon’s Comissão de Jogos do Turismo de Portugal granted the Malta-based subsidiary GM Gaming a licence to offer services via its local .pt website.

As part of the licence, gamers in Portugal will have access to a range of online sports betting services, as well as online casino games including roulette, slots and blackjack.

Betway now joins competitors already legally operating in the Portugeuse market, including PokerStars, Luckia and 888.com. Betway shot to fame in the UK for its sponsorship deals with West Ham Football Club.

The online bookmaker has been the Hammers’ principal partner for five years and the ongoing success of the partnership has led to the new long-term deal being finalised.
