Sweden’s Betsson, the major online gambling company, has reported revenue up 14 per cent from SEK1.177m to SEK1.346m in its interim report for the first quarter of calendar 2018.

Casino revenue was up 16 per cent and sportsbook takings up 17 per cent. The company reported that 3.7 per cent of the group revenue in the second quarter was related to the World Cup.

Operating income was SEK300.7m, up 45 per cent on the equivalent quarter last year of SEK206.9m.

For the half-year the group’s revenues were SEK 2.255m, up 12 per cent, and net income was up from SEK400.5m to SEK459.4m.

CEO Pontus Lindwall said that the increased revenue was principally in western Europe and increased activity during the football World Cup.
