Swedish online gaming operator Betsson has established a software development company in India.
The company will develop software both for Betsson’s current markets in Europe as well as for new B2B ventures in Asia.
According to Betsson, the new software development company in India will help the company to target markets outside of its core markets in Europe through Betsson’s B2B division, Betsson Business Solutions.
The new B2B strategic focus in new markets has already led to Betsson signing a contract with an as yet unnamed Asian customer, which will begin generating revenues for Betsson next year.
"Betsson sees, outside our core markets in the Nordic countries, several markets with good potential," said Betsson CEO Pontus Lindwall. "We want to establish ourselves through B2B collaboration with local partners. It is satisfying that our efforts in the B2B segment are paying off."
In its most recent financial results, Nordic countries accounted for 47 per cent of Betsson’s total gaming activities during Q3 compared to a 60 per cent share a year ago, while Europe (outside of the EU) represented 42 per cent (26 per cent last year). EU countries outside of Nordic regions accounted for 10 per cent of the total versus 13 per cent a year ago, with the rest of the world’s contribution remaining minimal.
