In an effort to further strengthen and intensify its efforts within responsible gaming, Betsson has partnered with Sweden’s Spelinstitutet to provide players with an online self-help programme.

The online gaming operator will provide customers from its Betsafe brand in Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland with an assessment of their gambling behaviour based on confidential information provided by players who have volunteered to take part during an initial pilot study. This assessment will then be used to offer customised programmes tailored to the individual needs of players.

The programme, which is based on cognitive behavioural therapy and motivational interviewing concepts, lasts for up to 10 weeks and includes homework, virtual therapist sessions and follow-up sessions once the programme is completed.

“Our support to research and continuous development of responsible gaming tools is therefore an important part of our business plan,” commented Betsson CEO Magnus Silfverberg.

“We are primarily interested in contributing to the development of preventative tools that would prevent or limit the harmful effects of gambling. This is why we see an excellent fit between the online self-help tool developed by Spelinstitutet and Betsson’s plan for responsible gaming development.”
