Guild Esports, in which footballer David Beckham holds a minority stake, is to float on the London stock market to raise £20m.

He will invite football fans to back Guild’s teams that will include online games Fortnite, CS:GO, Rocket League and Fifa.

The shares money will be used to expand the business, including recruiting new players for the teams.

Beckham is a shareholder in the company, with what is described as "a significant minority stake." But he is not the first famous footballer to enter the esports business. Gareth Bale, the Welsh international and Real Madrid player, already has his own esports organisation, Ellevens Esports.
