The police in Singapore have arrested 14 people following an investigation into alleged football match-fixing, reports ft.com.

The arrests come seven months after the EU identified Singapore as a base for a network of match fixers that has influenced hundreds of games.

This week, the Singapore police and anti-corruption agency said it had arrested 12 men and two women “on suspicion of being part of an organised crime group involved with match fixing activities.”

The police said the suspected leader of the group and several others who are “subject of ongoing investigations in other jurisdictions for match-fixing activities” were all apprehended.

The allegations relate to the fixing of football matches, including the bribing of officials, and Singapore’s thriving football betting culture.
