An independent Vixio gambling and compliance report commissioned by Light & Wonder estimates that the US could generate $6.35bn in annual tax revenue from legal igaming.

Light & Wonder - formerly Scientific Games - said that the report forecasts what each state could potentially earn in taxes from legalised gambling.
“Vixio’s report demonstrates that states are leaving billions of dollars in tax revenue on the table which could fund a variety of public programmes and services without resorting to broad-based taxes,” said Howard Glaser, global head of government affairs.
“The dozens of states that already have land-based casino gaming merely have to turn on the digital channel to realise tax revenues which are otherwise being siphoned off by the prevalence of illegal offshore internet gaming.”
The report showed that if igaming was legalised in all 42 states that currently permit land-based casinos or mobile sports betting, the potential size of the US igaming market alone would total over $30bn.
