32Red has been working with Spook, a specialist provider of server room power and environmental monitoring services.

The online casino, which is based in Gibraltar, is investing in monitoring key environmental conditions of its data centre to ensure it receives early warning of changes that could lead to potential unplanned business downtime.

"Given the nature of our business and the service we provide, the reliance on our IT infrastructure is extremely high," said 32Red IT director, Graham Campbell. "Suffering unplanned downtime is simply not acceptable."

Temperature control in particular is an essential environmental factor for 32Red to consider in the maintenance of its server room. "Our server room contains over 100 servers, and is sensitive to any variation in temperature," continued Campbell. "Having experienced a couple of incidents historically, it became very apparent that we needed to be monitoring the environmental conditions in the room 24 hours a day."

Spook's software monitoring application provides 32Red with real-time monitoring of key environmental conditions across the LAN/WAN infrastructure, automatically email alerting in real-time any out of line conditions. These include power outages, air conditioning failures and water ingress.

In addition, all data is collated and presented in graphical format via electronic weekly management reports and is also available for real-time analysis via the secure online web portal, mySpook.
