The increasing power of AI has been hailed as a potential boon for both igaming operators and bettors. Before we all start hailing our robot overlords, though, Abelson Info’s Jeevan Jeyaratnam sounds a note of caution.
Oxford Reference defines artificial intelligence as “the theory and development of computer systems able to perform tasks normally requiring human intelligence, such as visual perception, speech recognition, decision-making and translation between languages.”
While I’ll continue to refer to the wider topic as AI, what we are really considering here is “machine learning”, a tighter branch of the AI tree. Siri, Alexa and self-driving cars are all considered to be types of Artificial Narrow Intelligence, in that they aren’t actually self-aware but have a long list of programmed commands that allow them to function in the way they do.
