Domicilium’s dastardly chief technical officer Phil Adcock has a message for those fantasy enthusiasts who want to get ahead in the cloud

I was invited to a party at a friend’s house for New Year’s Eve. The catch was that you had to turn up in fancy dress to get through the door and the theme this year was 1980s TV. I had to admit I left sorting out a costume a bit late and it took some last minute scrabbling around the internet to find an outfit. I wanted to go as the Predator, the titular character of the Arnold Schwarzenegger film. As it turned out, I needed to be seven feet tall – so I had to settle for a Dick Dastardly outfit from the Wacky Races. What actually turned up looked nothing like the picture on the website. For a start, they had written “Dick Dastardly” in big letters on the front of the duster jacket, presumably so other people could work out who you were supposed to be. The other striking feature was the colour. It was, well, purple. The effect could only be described as a cross-dressing Humphrey Bogart with a handlebar moustache. That’s the trouble with the internet. You don’t always get what you expect.
