Final quarter results for William Hill show that online revenues grew by 27 per cent in the last three months of 2012.

Total revenues rose by 12 per cent, while operating profit increased 20 per cent. Online revenues grew by 27 per cent - the third successive year of net revenue growth above 20 per cent - and retail by six per cent.

The mobile offering was also boosted by the launch of a sportsbook iPad app in December along with new mobile and virtual sports sites and apps in the second half of the year. Mobile sportsbook turnover was more than 260 per cent higher than in 2011. Online achieved a record weekly mobile turnover of almost £20m in the final week of the year, aided chiefly by a strong football programme.

William Hill is also on schedule to bolster its online business by buying Playtech’s 29 per cent share in William Hill Online and also with its acquisition of Sportingbet's Australian and Spanish businesses.
